China accelerating development of supportive policies for smart car industry
China will create its own smart car standards, traffic rules
and laws and regulations on safety. The government is also looking into regulations
on accident-incurred liabilities. Design guidance will be provided for smart
cars and standards will be set for test grounds.
Indian Government launches programme to support deep tech innovation and commercialisation in critical areas
Applicants showing capability, intent, and potential to commercialisse
technologies will be awarded grants up to Rs. 10 million (US$150,000).
Up to a total of 50 grants in fiscal year 2018-19 may be given out. The grant support will be supplemented by
mentoring, handholding, incubating and other support as neededat various stages
of commercialisation.

The nationwide Time Stamping & Time Synchronisation
network will synchronise all telecom networks with Indian Standard Time. This
will lead to better efficiency of the telecom networks and help uniquely
identify the user (subscriber) of network on tracing of the IP address and
other parameters, helping analyse cyber events for security purposes.

New initiative to fast-track Fintech patent application-to-grant process in Singapore
Under this initiative, Fintech patents will be granted in as
quickly as six months, compared to at least two years for normal applications. It
will complement the Monetary Authority of Singapore (MAS)’s S$225 million
Financial Sector Technology and Innovation (FSTI) funding scheme.
