Malaysian Tech Firms Partner to Develop Digital Solutions

Malaysian Tech Firms Partnership for Digital Solutions

A local communications service provider announced that it is collaborating with the Malaysian branch of an American multinational technology company.

Through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU), the two parties have agreed to leverage their respective expertise, technology and capabilities to create innovative digital solutions for organisations in Malaysia.

Concurrently, the collaboration makes the communications service provider the first telco in Malaysia to offer fixed-line voice calls with the tech fir’s Teams unified communications, as part of its Modern Workplace solutions.

It was noted that one of the key pillars of the telecom’s growth journey and convergence ambition has been around strategic partnerships with some of the best in the industry to deliver more value to businesses in Malaysia.

With IR4.0 increasingly demanding for agility for the modern workforce, partnership with the tech firm comes at a critical time.

Cloud-based solutions enable a whole new level of work and collaboration, which will be an important driver in accelerating change within the fast-evolving business landscape, the Chief Enterprise Business Officer of the communications service provider stated.

The MoU will see collaboration in three key areas, targeting both commercial enterprises and the public sector.

First, the telecom’s leadership in IoT and 5G, and the tech firm’s cutting-edge Azure IoT technology will enable industries to build smart utilities and other connected applications, driving economic growth and digitalisation in Malaysia.

Second, the partnership will also leverage the tech firm’s Azure public cloud and Azure Stack services to enhance the telecom’s cloud services and meet the hybrid cloud needs of businesses in Malaysia.

The communications service provider’s ambition to be a one-stop-solution provider for IoT solutions for businesses is a crucial outcome of this collaboration. Businesses will be able to create new industrial IoT applications faster and leverage data analytics to solve their most pressing business problems and market needs.

Third, the telecom will adopt the tech fir’s Modern Workplace solutions, giving their employees the ability and flexibility to integrate their work, life and family.

This includes the ability and processes to work from anywhere with a network connection, at a time that works for both the employee and the business and across multiple devices.

The proven business benefits of embracing this workplace of the future mindset are enhanced productivity, a results-driven employee experience, where people are assessed on their deliverables not how long they are at their desks as well as quality time with their loved ones.

The telecom will use their internal transformation journey as a demonstration of the application of the Modern Workplace culture, to help inspire businesses and organisations to follow suit.

According to a study by the tech firm and IDC, digital transformation will add an estimated US$10 billion to Malaysia’s GDP by 2021.

Through its partnership with the telecom, the tech firm will enable so Malaysian businesses to have access to the most innovative solutions from our respective expertise in technologies like cloud, IoT and 5G.

The MoU will also see the tech firm share its knowledge and expertise in the field of IoT and Cloud technology, to continuously diversify the applications of the telecom’s offerings in areas such as the development of smart cities, smart utilities and other connected solutions.
