State Government of Selangor
Mrs Fazlina Binti Hashim, Undersecretary of IT Division
OpenGov Asia is recognising the State Government of Selangor for its efforts on the continuous improvements on Cyberjaya, which is dubbed as the Silicon Valley of Malaysia.
Cyberjaya is a space for start-ups to create and innovate, where students can pursue their dreams of changing lives with technology. It is a place for tech giants to make new discoveries and for small businesses to conquer the world one market at a time. This sustainable, open ecosystem has enabled Cyberjaya’s business community to grow progressively.
While its initial focus was on ICT, Cyberjaya is now moving to the next level by positioning itself as a more encompassing global tech hub. Cyberjaya will follow the Smart Selangor Blueprint 1.0 (SSB 1.0) to achieve being a smart city. The blueprint outlines 12 key dimensions: Smart Governance, Smart Energy, Smart Water Management, Smart Waste Management, Smart Development/Infrastructure, Smart Digital Infrastructure (ICT), Smart Transport & Mobility, Smart Safety & Security, Smart Disaster Management, Smart Agro, Smart Healthcare, and Smart Education. Such vision for smart city is forward-looking and progressive.
