Driving Sustainability in Taiwan’s Electronic Information Industry

Nearly 20 domestic and international supply chain partners were asked to work together to reduce carbon emissions and help Taiwan continue to play a key role in the global information and communication industry during the recently held 2023 Electronic Information Industry Low-Carbon Transformation and Sustainability Summit. This is consistent with the Ministry of Economic Affairs’ goal of assisting the nation in reaching its goal of being a net-zero carbon economy by 2050.

Lin Quanneng, Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Economic Affairs, observes that countries all over the world have made carbon reduction/zero carbon policies because of global climate change. He said that carbon rights and carbon taxes will have a big effect on businesses around the world.

The country will encourage both big and small companies to work together to cut carbon emissions, help operators in the supply chain speed up the introduction of the latest low-carbon tools and energy management technologies, and encourage the replacement of old ways of making things.

The old equipment that uses a lot of energy is replaced, and expert advice and diagnosis services are offered to save energy and reduce carbon. This makes a strong case for specific carbon reduction in the supply chain.

To help the electronic information industry understand the needs and practises of the international industrial supply chain brand manufacturers from around the world shared their practical experience in reducing carbon emissions. International carbon reduction trends, scientific verification, product design, digital management platforms, and carbon inventory tools, among other things, were discussed.

Digital management platforms increase supply chain transparency and collaboration. They facilitate communication and data sharing among stakeholders, thereby facilitating coordination and alignment of efforts towards common carbon reduction objectives. In addition, it encourages accountability and collective action, as supply chain partners can actively monitor and contribute to the progress of carbon reduction initiatives.

Professional know-how can assist the industry in understanding its own carbon emissions to create carbon reduction methods, administer the appropriate medicine, and relieve enterprise carbon anxiety.

Building on its extensive experience in driving industrial digitalisation, the Information Policy Council has developed an exchange mechanism that fosters digital trust and facilitates carbon reduction efforts.

This mechanism serves as a valuable resource for supply chains and manufacturers of carbon inventory tools, enabling effective collaboration and streamlined processes. By leveraging its expertise in digitisation, the council aims to support and empower these stakeholders in their pursuit of carbon reduction goals.

The Ministry of Economic Affairs’ Industrial Bureau has long collaborated closely with overseas enterprises through the IPO Forum platform, spanning technology research and development, Taiwan procurement, and creative applications.

Foreign members respond actively to the government’s carbon reduction agenda and assist supply chain partners in meeting carbon reduction targets. The IPO Forum President Liao Renxiang stated in his speech that Taiwan’s supply chain is critical to the global electronic information sector.

As foreign investors in Taiwan, IPO Forum’s foreign representatives will continue to collaborate with the government to assist Taiwan’s supply chain and industry in adopting a more innovative model. Attain carbon reduction objectives.

In addition to carbon emissions, the nation will promote diverse empirical applications from large to small, guide member industries to introduce modern digital tools, complete carbon reduction path planning and application, and join hands in the ranks of carbon reduction so that specific carbon reduction benefits can be implemented at the supply chain end of secondary industries.
