OpenGov Asia is pleased to invite you to an exclusive OpenGov Breakfast Insight which will take a deep-dive into code platforms and application infrastructure consolidation tools in public services. The focus will be on how the full adoption of this technology can enhance the citizen experience.
Singapore government has set a stellar benchmark in digital transformation, attributed to its steadfast commitment, decisive leadership and top-tier support. Its Smart Nation programme leverages technology and data analytics to transform Singapore into a more interconnected and innovative nation, evident in a multitude of initiatives aimed at improving various facets of society.
According to a recent cost-benefit analysis, the Singaporean government achieved nearly a 50% reduction in hosting expenses after transitioning to cloud technology. This achievement comes after a persistent endeavour to progressively shift reliance towards cloud infrastructure, with nearly 60% of qualifying government systems now operating on the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC).
Today, it is critical for the public sector to consider cost savings, particularly in operational efficiency, where simplifying applications and infrastructure decreases operational costs such as hardware maintenance, software licencing, and support services. Energy efficiency is also significant, as fewer servers and hardware components result in lower energy usage, which helps to ensure environmental sustainability.
Resource optimisation will be prioritised by consolidating server and network resources, resulting in improved utilisation of processing power and storage. This will encourage quicker response, as streamlined procedures allow for faster responses to citizen questions and government services, while also improving overall efficiency.
A recent case study indicated that Verizon Communications is committed to a $2.1 billion investment to enhance networking power, solutioning and scalability by leveraging HCLTech’s industry-leading managed service capabilities, marking the dawn of a new era in large-scale wireline service delivery for their valued customers.
The obvious question that then next presents itself is: What application and infrastructure should the public sector consider in the future?
ASM 2.0 Framework: Transform Digital Application Operations
Globally, the public sector is striving to enhance agility and resilience while concurrently reducing expenditures. ASM 2.0 represents a novel paradigm within the applications environment that empowers the public sector to maintain a well-rounded perspective on budgets, encompassing both ‘business-as-usual’ and ‘transformational’ initiatives, all the while fostering a culture of increased agility, efficiency and a results-oriented approach.
Innovative Techniques to Improve Citizen Experience
To effectively implement digital transformation, forward-thinking projects must select a platform that streamlines processes, cuts costs, and unlocks the complete potential of their workforce. Despite the growing trend, numerous organisations remain uncertain about the actual advantages of employing no-code and citizen development.
