Making Indonesia 4.0: Are We Ready?

Indonesia leads the biggest economy in ASEAN countries with a total population of 260 million. With over half of the population being active mobile users, citizens’ needs are demanding for a bigger government digital innovation.
The Indonesia President, Joko Widodo has recently launched a road-map “Making Indonesia 4.0” based on the worldwide trending revolution Industry 4.0 that started in Germany. The fourth industrial revolution focuses on manufacturing and industry with the integration of technology. It is a combination of multiple technologies to be applied to several sectors.
Running alongside Indonesia 4.0, Smart Cities have been developed for the past few years. With Jakarta leading the initiative in 2014, other cities such as Bandung, Makassar and Surabaya have incorporated technologies within their cities’ management and sustainability successfully. Some of the technologies implemented are smart surveillance and monitoring system, smart cards and smart transportation.
The road to Indonesia 4.0 is not a one-person job. It requires a strong collaboration between government agencies, private sector and citizens. Recently, the Minister of Communications and Information Technology (KOMINFO), Rudiantara mentioned that KOMINFO will work to support the health and education system to prepare the government for the Year 2030 demographic bonus and addition of consumer class of 130 million people in Indonesia. Simultaneously, it is predicted that the population would increase to 271 million with 64% being the working age.

The digital landscape is constantly evolving from mobile apps to smart technology, on-the-go citizens demand engaging, efficient and secure access with more turnkey solutions, alongside the nation heading towards the Indonesia 4.0 vision. In order to provide our citizens and government agencies with a secure, streamlined, and personalised digital experience, the Indonesia OpenGov Leadership Forum will focus on the tools and techniques that build on your agency’s mission for an effective digital government strategy.
The government data exchange focuses on creating proactive state data management and connectivity, as well as helping people when they apply for public services electronically. DGA will develop a mobile application to monitor the work and services of state agencies, so people can directly inform it when they have been asked to provide copied documents by state agencies.
Here, you will meet C-level government experts and industry professionals addressing the most important policy, management and leadership issues surrounding the future of digital government and the role of the public sector CIO.
Come join us and be part of the 5th annual Indonesia OpenGov Leadership Forum 2020!
