Smart Cloud for Smart Nation – How Reliable is Your Cloud to Deliver Mission-Critical Services?

How Reliable is your Cloud?

OpenGov Asia is pleased to invite you to an exclusive OpenGovLive! Virtual Breakfast Insight aimed at imparting knowledge on:

Building a secure hybrid and multi-cloud deployment capability, without compromising network and application performance.

Delivering innovative and secured citizen services with agility, scalability, and speed

Cloud technology is transforming businesses across industries and creating a paradigm shift by delivering hosted services through the internet with unabated cost benefits and business innovation. But while the private sector is building on cloud computing’s myriad benefits, government organisations have also aggressively begun to capitalise on them.

Singapore is one of the leading nations, investing more than SG$870 million on the cloud migration plan. Singapore public sector is on its path to move the majority of its on-premise IT system to the public cloud to improve the efficiency of its digital services and also mitigate IT constraints faced by an on-premise system such as the requirement of in-house server hardware, IT support team, software integration capability, high maintenance cost.

Agility, Flexibility, and Scalability

It is undeniable that cloud infrastructure changes the way we access, store, migrate, and manage data more than before. It provides high accessibility of information and enables us to access information remotely especially during the current pandemic time.

Furthermore, it gives us the flexibility to rapidly respond to the change of requirements in the digital age. The agencies have the flexibility to not only move workload between the on-premise data center and public cloud but also make a change and upload data instantly.

The COVID-19 pandemic has demonstrated that public sector organisations need modern infrastructure, capabilities, and controls to overcome the disruption caused by critical events.

Agencies that embraced cloud services proved more responsive and were able to continue operating remotely and serving their citizens, demonstrating agility, scalability, and speed.

Enhancing Performance, Connectivity, and Reliability whilst Lowering Latency

Today, agencies deploy cloud technology in various models.

Multi-cloud or hybrid cloud deployment is widely adopted among government agencies as it can store high confidential data in its private cloud while the general data can be stored with third-party cloud providers.

Hence, the agencies need to ensure the compatibility between different cloud environments to prevent the rising of complex IT issues.

There is a need to be able to deliver the interconnectivity platform to move workload between cloud providers without compromising the security.

However, despite the beneficial attributes of using a multi-cloud environment, one of the key challenges would be the low latency of the cloud network.

There is a need to tackle intra-cloud latency by accelerating the speed of communication between different cloud networks. This can help to leverage the efficiency of data transmission and provide a seamless experience to the agencies.
