Thriving in a Creative and Intelligent Digital Workspace

A Platform For Collaboration

OpenGov Asia is pleased to invite you to an exclusive OpenGovLive! Virtual Breakfast Insight aimed at imparting knowledge on modern digital workspace and best practices to improve workforce productivity, engagement, service delivery levels and efficiency.

Creating next-generation secured workspace for enhanced business continuity, better employee experience, and improved productivity

In 2020, so much has been up in the air with the pandemic, the lockdowns, and stay-at-home orders by governments across the world. In this constantly changing landscape, though, one this is certain: digital workspace is here to stay.

The Singapore government has seen its largest Work from Home (WFH) initiatives kick-in as part of its circuit breaker efforts to contain the COVID-19 outbreak even as they strived to provide seamless services to the citizens.
In fact, the drive towards digital workspace has gained momentum and urgency during the pandemic.
The massive increase in remote working has driven organisations to deeply think about their network infrastructure; how and when agencies can access applications that they have increasingly migrated to the cloud with the government’s five-year cloud migration plan.

As Singapore has been steadily moving from a crisis to stability phase, the government has been proactively pushing ahead with its “cloud-first” effort to embrace the next normal. Many are grappling to be creative with the tools, people, and productivity to get ahead.

The Singapore journey during the pandemic:

  • Crisis – Where it started
  • Extended – Where we pushed
  • Resilience – Where we are
  • Next Normal – Where we are going
Enabling greater agility, productivity and security

Digital workspaces more than merely enables employees to work remotely. They are the culmination of a business mobility trend that has evolved from individual and team productivity to true business process transformation.

It is, therefore, imperative for the government to proactively pre-empt changes even in the most challenging times. They must drive business continuity rather than being driven to react to changes.

Across industries including the public sector, many rely heavily on Virtual Private Networks (VPN) as a fundamental element of digital security when working away from the office and believed that it was sufficient.

However, VPNs significantly slow down access to applications and threatens productivity especially when the demand for network connectivity and traffic spike dramatically. VPNs alone would never be enough to secure and manage data produced across the networks

As more government agencies bring forward their cloud migration timeline to improve visibility and security due to pandemic, cloud-based SD-WAN has emerged as one of the most compelling connectivity solutions in this time. It provides a combination of cost efficiency, agility and built-in security features as it effectively minimises access that an individual user has to a specific product, limiting the attack surface in the process.

The key to digital workspace is having a secured and application-optimised network. Successful digital transformation depends on how well the virtual, cloud and applications perform across the organisation and branch locations with different devices. Therefore, application delivery and security are the determinative to enable secured digital workspace and deliver optimised employee experience.

Under any circumstance, the network has to be consistent, always-available and optimised to drive productivity and business continuity plans.

The challenges and requirements may differ based on the types of businesses and digital workspace can be industry-specific. They can be contextually implemented to accommodate the current needs of an organisation with enough room for expansion in the future.

The question is – how prepared are you for the future?
