and the Chief Minister of Chhattisgarh, Dr

Smart
Cities
are a part of the Smart City Mission that was initiated in 2015. The aim

reported earlier, nine Integrated Command & Control Centres are already
operational
in the cities of Ahmedabad, Kakinada, Visakhapatnam,
Nagpur, Pune, Rajkot, Surat, Vadodara and Bhopal.

Naya
Raipur is one of the three Smart Cities of Chhattisgarh that were selected
under the Smart Cities Mission; the two other cities are Raipur and Bilaspur. The
Control Centre in the city will regulate and oversee the online water and power
supply, sanitation, traffic movement, integrated building management, city
connectivity and Internet infrastructure, under one roof.

According
to the official press release, Naya Raipur is a hub for services that are
offered by various sectors including, Information Technology, Bio-Technology,
Finance, Trade, Hospitality, Medicine and Education. Naya Raipur is also the
first Digitally Accessible Smart
City
in the country and has made Universal Access IT systems easily accessible
for differently-abled citizens.

The
Command and Control Centre will be managed through a Geographic Information
System (GIS) platform, where residents, through helpline numbers, can register
their complaints regarding the quality and delivery of services.

The city selected the infrastructure and
development company, Infrastructure Leasing & Financial
Services

Electric
, to function as the Master System Integrator (MSI). The
companies will develop, implement, and regulate a number of projects in the
city such as Smart Governance (Portal and Mobile applications), Utility
Management Systems, Intelligent Transport Management Systems, the city’s
Surveillance System, Data Centres, Integrated Building Management Systems, and the
Smart Network. These projects are expected to improve the quality of life of
the citizens of Naya Raipur.
