CAAS to explore the application of AI in air traffic management

Civil Aviation Authority of Singapore (CAAS) announced
that it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Searidge
Technologies to conduct research and development (R&D) into the application of artificial
intelligence (AI) in control tower operations.

MOU was signed on 7 March at the sidelines of the CANSO World ATM Congress held
in Madrid, Spain.

Some of these collaborative initiatives include: partnership
with ST Aerospace
to develop Beyond Visual Line of Sight Unmanned Aircraft
System, the co-establishment
of a Global Safety Predictive Analytics Research Centre
in Singapore with the
International Air Transport Association (IATA), and the
extension of partnership with Nanyang Technological University in Singapore
in air traffic management research conducted at the Air Traffic
Management Research Institute (ATMRI).
