The Ministry of Communications and Informatics is collaborating with five state universities in order to hold an educational program, short courses of intensive training scholarships called the “Digital Talent Scholarship”.
According to the announcement made, this program aims to prepare Indonesia’s human resources for Industrial Revolution 4.0, giving the people the necessary skills to support digital transformation, thereby increasing the country’s digital economy.
The training is not oriented towards creating engineers but for technicians who are ready to work directly in the digital industry.
The syllabus for the training will be prepared by global tech companies because they, themselves, are having difficulties in finding technicians in Indonesia.
The program will be hosted by the HR Research and Development Agency of the Ministry.
The five state universities of Indonesia will be conducting the trainings on the different training themes.
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is the intelligence of scientific entities including expert systems, computer games, fuzzy logic, artificial neural networks and robotics.
This training theme will be handled by the Universitas Gadjah Mada and the Institut Teknologi Sepuluh Nopember.

Microsoft Indonesia will be providing expertise certification for all of the training themes. This certification would help the participants to find work easier.
Scholarships will be given to 1,000 people who meet the requirements and pass the online selection process found on the program’s website.
Some of the requirements include being an Indonesian citizen, that they pass the administration selection and basic knowledge test, and that their maximum ages are 29 and 33 depending on which category they are applying for.
The Ministry explained that this program will be further developed, targeting 20,000 people in 2019.
Although robots, machines, and digital applications have begun to take over some of the human jobs that require basic skills, are mechanical, routinely, or those that require high precision in the Industrial Revolution 4.0, concerns about unemployment due to the reduction in number of jobs have not been confirmed.
