NSW signs MOU to advance opportunity in high tech R&D jobs

A British global defence powerhouse will help bring a new cutting edge space research and development facility as part of a university and advanced manufacturing precinct being delivered at the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

According to a recent press release, NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian was at the multinational’s headquarters in London to sign a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with the company.

MOU to bring more jobs in NSW

The MOU will ensure NSW leads the nation in developing tomorrow’s scientists, engineers and mathematicians.

The NSW Premier explained that the Aerotropolis being built around the Western Sydney Airport is a great opportunity for firms around the world to invest in the state.

The company’s interest in NSW as a destination for this research facility is a huge vote of confidence in the state’s economy and plans for the new airport city.

This partnership will create the high tech jobs needed to keep NSW as the number one jobs market in the nation.

Under the MOU, the company will be allowed to explore the advantages of becoming a part of the innovation precinct at the new airport city.

Western Sydney Aerotropolis

Australia has a long history of innovation in the defence industry, and the Aerotropolis in Western Sydney presents a great opportunity to build on that history.

The company has a long track record of supporting the Australian Defence Force to maintain a capability edge and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis will be the home of Australia’s future aerospace industry.

This agreement forms part of the NSW Government’s commitment to creating 200,000 jobs in and around the Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

The Aerotropolis will be adjacent to the new 24-hour international (Nancy-Bird Walton) airport at Badgerys Creek.

The new R&D facility will be located within a university being developed through a partnership between the University of Newcastle, University of NSW and University of Wollongong (the NUW Alliance), Western Sydney University and the NSW Government.

OpenGov Asia earlier reported on A New University to rise in Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

A world-class higher education institution will be created in the heart of the new Western Sydney Aerotropolis as four of the leading universities in New South Wales (NSW) join forces.

An Australian first, the project will have a clear focus on science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) education.

The NSW Government is working hard to create more jobs in every part of NSW and the Western Sydney Aerotropolis will create thousands of employment opportunities for young people.

Additionally, OpenGov Asia had also reported on 10 MoUs to secure take-off of Western Sydney Aerotropolis.

NSW Premier Gladys Berejiklian committed to deliver 10 Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in 2018 and has delivered with the final commitment.

The State Government has agreements that represent millions of dollars of investment in NSW to create new jobs, industry and underpin the new Western Sydney Parkland City.
