New advisory panel for leading technology-as-a-service firm

OneConnect Financial Technology has recently formed its inaugural advisory panel which consists of three veterans from the corporate, technology and academic fields.

Dr Yaacob Ibrahim, Jalan Besar GRC, Member of Parliament, and Professor of Engineering and Advisor to President, Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Dr Steven Miller, Vice Provost of Research at Singapore Management University (SMU), and Dr David Lee Kuo Chuen, Professor at Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and Vice President of Economic Society of Singapore make up the panel.

OneConnect is a leading technology-as-a-service platform for financial institutions, and this new advisory panel is set to propel it to greater heights. This new advisory panel will play a significant role in ensuring the growth of the organisation, as well as provide insightful supervision and make certain that it functions under the best corporate governance.

Dr Yaacob shared that he is “deeply honoured to be part of OneConnect’s advisory panel”. He recognised OneConnect as a leading technology institution and shared on his excitement for being an advisor to the organisation.

Dr Miller said that SMU and OneConnect share strong collaborative efforts for pushing forward for new innovations and talent development. “I look forward to serving on the panel and advising on how OneConnect can bring practical and industry-ready versions of the latest technologies to financial institutions and enable them to grow sustainably as they embark on their digital transformation journey,” said Dr Miller.

He also shared that strong collaborative efforts between SMU and OneConnect have seen great collaborative efforts for promoting innovation and talent development. OpenGov had previously reported on the partnership between OneConnect and SMU, where they signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), on September 6, to partner in the research work for developing a Proof of Concept (POC) on the possibilities of quantum computing boosting the capabilities of blockchain technology.

“I look forward to contributing my wealth of knowledge and experience in the boardroom as well as in the fintech and scalable technologies that will help OneConnect’s pursuit in its open platform and ecosystem strategies towards a financially inclusive Asia,” said Dr Lee.

Tan Bin Ru, CEO (APAC & UAE) of OneConnect Financial Technology shared on the honour of having Singapore’s top experts and leaders be a part of the advisory panel and to gain beneficial guidance from them in the areas of technology and business.

OpenGov has previously had two successful Breakfast Insight sessions, held in conjunction with OneConnect: ‘Who wins the Future of Banking?’ and ‘Thriving in an AI world- Are you ready for the future?

OneConnect was also a part of OpenGov’s recent Thailand OpenGov Leadership Forum.
