Indonesia’s Ministry of Communications and Informatics Enables Industrial Society 4.0

The Ministry of Communications and Informatics is an enabler for the Indonesian people to enter the industrial era 4.0. To carry out this task requires a strong commitment and collaboration with ministries, institutions and the ecosystem. Indonesia and even around the world will continue to talk about digitalisation. For Indonesia, the main task and basic foundation are entrusted to us, because the Ministry is an enabler for the Indonesian people to enter industry 4.0.

We are given the responsibility to ensure the availability of ICT infrastructure that is evenly distributed throughout the country, and also to ensure that the downstream ICT infrastructure must be utilised and used optimally and maximally. We certainly do not work alone, there are many ministries, institutions and ecosystems that work with us regarding digital talent. However, it is our duty to provide a stimulus so that the availability of both the quantity and quality of our digital human resources is sufficient.

In addition, the Ministry has duties and responsibilities in ensuring optimal and efficient management of frequency spectrum resources. This is a projection of the enormous need for digitalisation. Indonesia is adopting new technologies, but the management of frequency spectrum resources is entrusted to the Ministry. Not only as state revenue but also to serve as the basic foundation for the development of national telecommunications and the multiplier effect and multiplier effect of that trust.

The Ministry has the goal of ushering Indonesia into the digital era through optimal community participation. This includes ensuring mitigation of the impacts of digitalisation so that our national digital space is useful and useful. The President entrusted this task and responsibility to the Ministry of Communication and Informatics and we are accountable to the President and to the community, nation and state.

The Minister of Communication and Informatics explained that budget support for the development of the communication and information technology sector is in line with the need for digitalisation so that Indonesian people have better adaptability. This is in line with the direction of the President that the faster the state budget expenditures, the more effective the state budget stimulus for the national economy. The Ministry of Communication and Informatics is one of the nine ministries that contribute the biggest stimulus to the national economy.

The Minister witnessed the Signing of the Performance and Performance Targets of Echelon I Employees and confirmed the Middle High Leadership Position. To all civitas, the Minister of Communication and Informatics hopes that the signing of the performance will be a sign of commitment to realising an inclusive digital ecosystem. To make all of this happen, Minister Johnny encourages more massive collaborative work.

As reported by OpenGov Asia, Indonesia has one of the world’s highest percentages of internet users. Nonetheless, when compared to other Asian countries, it has a low internet penetration rate. In 2021, mobile internet penetration in Indonesia is expected to be 68%. Its reach is expected to increase to 79% by 2025. The penetration rate is the proportion of the total population that has internet access via a mobile broadband connection.

With increasing mobile internet penetration in the country, there has been an increase in demand for lower data prices, greater coverage, and better service quality. As a key strategy to attract more customers, Indonesian internet providers have proposed attractive data pricing plans as well as optimised data-oriented mobile services. Moreover, on the popularity of mobile internet, fixed broadband subscriptions in Indonesia have been increasing in recent years. As a result, broadband penetration rates among households in the country have increased.
