China’s thriving metropolis of Shanghai has played a significant part in fostering the creation and development of massive artificial intelligence (AI) models. Shanghai is establishing itself as a global leader in the AI revolution by utilising the potential of cutting-edge AI technologies and cultivating a positive ecology.
Liu Ping, Deputy Director of the Shanghai Municipal Commission of Economy and Information Technology, spoke at the 2023 World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC), which was organised by the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology (CAICT), and emphasised the increased importance of generative AI and large models as a result of the new round of AI strategy.
Shanghai saw this as an opportunity to lead the way and seized it by utilising its advantages in data, urban digital transformation, and scene advantages to encourage innovation and the growth of huge models around the city.
AI terms like “large models” refer to complex neural networks with a tonne of parameters that can handle enormous volumes of data and pick up nuanced patterns. The large investments made by the public and business sectors show the city’s dedication to AI research.
