Powering Smarter Data and Resilient Government with Advanced Analytics

Leveraging innovative technologies to respond, recover and reimagine next-gen citizen–centric services
Friday, 21st August 2020
Thailand Standard Time 08.45 am – 10.00 am
It is a known fact that the COVID-19 outbreak presents an unprecedented, global challenge. When citizens are doing their part by social distancing, healthcare workers and first responders are taking care of many of us, and our governments are mobilising resources to respond to this crisis.
As COVID-19 continues to spread around the world, governments are facing new challenges to keep their citizens safe and businesses running.
Governments and public sector organisations are expected to respond quickly to equip their citizens and businesses with the resources to minimise the social and economic consequences. This is not made any easier when governments also have to comply with mounting Personal Data Protection requirements to ensure data security, privacy and confidentiality is being managed accordingly.
In responding to a crisis, governments are struggling to minimise associated negative impacts and ensure continued delivery of critical national infrastructure. The COVID-19 crisis has drawn attention to the tools and technologies that governments need to have to protect their citizens and enterprises. This points to a question – Does the public sector has what they need to respond effectively, recover quickly, rebound efficiently, and reimagine the future which is critical to national interests?

Leveraging Actionable Advanced Analytics and AI for Better Outcomes

Governments around the world are developing and rolling out support programs for citizens in response to the economic and social crises related to the COVID-19 pandemic. The speed, scope, and scale of these programs are unprecedented.
Governments have rolled out initial fiscal stimulus packages regarding taxes, loans, cash payments to alleviate liquidity in response to the pandemic. There is dire need to think and act strategically about how to support local businesses especially medium and small enterprises in both the short and long term.
Beyond the existing initial responses, governments are considering how to move quickly to ensure that the benefits are reaching the intended beneficiaries and that there is no abuse, waste, or misappropriation of funds.
To make the matters worse, the COVID-19 outbreak has created an unprecedented slowdown in revenue-generating activities that fund the government’s capital and operational costs.
While governments are quickly enacting economic stimulus measures, a true picture of revenue loss is still difficult to obtain.
Responding to this complex crisis requires a multifaceted approach, including the ability to quickly integrate new data, make accurate, multilevel forecasts, and provide data-driven insights for policymakers.

Respond, Recover, Rebound and Reimagine – Analytics in Action

Data has once again emerged as the most important weapon – this time, it is to fight the battle against COVID-19.
Data is being used not only to focus on the Covid-19 case burden, but also to consider population burdens, marginalised populations such as single mothers, senior citizens, low-income citizens, and socioeconomic factors in formulating priority planning and action plans. It is also the most important asset in the digital age and must be used appropriately without compromising government agencies and citizens.
Analytical data will help drive disease control, micro-community screening, as well as mobilise aid and welfare channels.
As governments struggle through this difficult period, it is time to look beyond. The sociological and economic effects are becoming evident, and thus, nations are exploring coronavirus recovery strategies based on data & advanced analytics.
The question is – Does your agency has the tools to:
This is where advanced analytics and strong data governance will contribute to better decision making for the government agencies.
