Diving into the best method to manage and operate technological assets effectively

Singapore has emerged as a global leader in digital transformation as a result of unwavering dedication, strong leadership, and strong support. The Smart Nation programme uses cutting-edge technology and data analytics to help Singapore become a more linked and innovative nation, as proven by a multitude of initiatives targeted at improving all aspects of society.

In a recent cost-benefit analysis, the Singaporean government highlighted a remarkable achievement: a nearly 50% reduction in hosting charges following the shift to cloud technology. This success is the result of a sustained effort to gradually shift dependency onto cloud infrastructure, with around 60% of eligible government systems now operating on the Government Commercial Cloud (GCC).

Beyond digital transformation, the Singapore government is currently focusing on two critical adjustments in its IT practises: the adoption of Software as a Service (SaaS) and the convergence of infrastructure and application maintenance. Notably, one critical usage of SaaS is the adoption of a low-code platform to optimise the multiple on-premise applications across 100+ government organisations.

The value proposition for consolidating and optimising infrastructure and applications in a hybrid cloud environment is multifaceted:

  1. Efficiency and Cost: Streamlining operations leads to cost reductions, contributing to an overall increase in efficiency.
  2. Availability and Resilience: A consolidated approach enhances system availability and resilience, ensuring continuity even in challenging scenarios.
  3. Speed and Agility: The framework prioritises speed and agility, allowing for swift adaptation to evolving technological landscapes.
  4. Security and Reliability: The consolidated system emphasises robust security measures, ensuring reliability and trust in the digital infrastructure.

The pivotal question arises: How should public sector agencies manage and operate these technological assets effectively?

Consolidated Application & Infrastructure Maintenance Framework:

This framework is designed to deliver experience-centric and business-aligned outcomes through automated, intelligent, and contextualised application support operations. It includes a fitting operating model aligned with the business context, a DevSecOps-based team structure fostering a best-in-class engineering culture, and a platform driving an observability and automation roadmap with AIOPS/SRE operations offering preventive, predictive, and self-heal capabilities.

Application Optimisation for Enhanced Citizen Experiences:

To execute digital transformation effectively, forward-thinking projects must choose platforms that streamline processes, reduce costs, and unlock the full potential of their workforce to deliver value faster. The low-code platform is particularly known for business process management (BPM), case management, and decision management. Artificial intelligence (AI) and robotic process automation (RPA) capabilities are incorporated into its platform.

The session will explore:

  • BENEFITS of microservices for the public sector, including increased flexibility, scalability, and security
  • ADVANCED methods for supplying robust applications and continuous IT support
  • METHODS for increasing operational efficiency
  • CURRENT tools for improving efficiency through point automation and intelligence
  • ENHANCED strategies for embracing the application infrastructure consolidation
  • INNOVATIVE technology and practices that can be tested and used by public sector organisations
