Thailand’s National Innovation Agency or “NIA” was established since 2003 under the Ministry of Science and Technology. NIA is a funding agency entrusted by the Thai government to act as a core organization to promote and facilitate creation, development, effective management, and exploitation of innovation. Our mission is to conduct activities that accelerate innovation in industry, business, government and society in systematic and sustainable ways. To achieve this goal, NIA has undertaken a broad-based and systematic approach to building up the national innovation system by fostering strategic innovation, promoting cluster development, and offering assistance to both the public and private sector in developing and managing innovation.

NIA’s operational framework included the following activities:

Providing financial and technological supports for development of innovation projects after the completion of research and development, and assisting in commercialization of research and development.
Upgrading technological and innovative capabilities of enterprises, especially in national strategic industry sectors.
Enhancing networks of private enterprises by providing technological and financial supports as well as creating partnerships both on the policy and practical levels that will lead to development of the national innovation system.
Promoting innovation and technology awareness, including promotion of innovation culture in all sectors including industries, organizations, and the general public.
Creating international exposures and partnerships, with objectives towards formation of strategic business partnerships, discovery of new market opportunities for innovation, establishment of international networks and transfer of technology.
