In the move to achieve comprehensive digital transformation, both in the public and private sectors, Indonesia affirms its commitment to forging close cooperation with various countries. The primary objective of this cooperation is to learn from and adopt the best policies and practices that partner countries have implemented in the realm of digitalisation.

Indonesia is acutely aware of the importance of involving various countries’ experiences and knowledge in the digital transformation process. International cooperation is a robust foundation for creating a practical framework for maximising information and communication technology use.

In light of this, Minister of Communication and Information Technology Budi Arie Setiadi met with German Minister for Digital Affairs and Transport, Volker Wissing. Both countries agreed to strengthen their cooperation in digital infrastructure and cross-border digital utilisation in their bilateral meeting. Minister Budi Arie and Minister Volker Wissing also witnessed the outcomes of 11 Memoranda of Understanding, one of which pertains to the Joint Declaration of Intent (JDoI) in digitalisation.

Budi Arie Setiadi acknowledged, “This meeting has a significant background, as it follows Indonesia’s participation as the first ASEAN country entrusted as the Official Partner Country for the third time in the industrial technology exhibition, Hannover Messe at Hannover Fairground, Germany. This exhibition is tangible evidence of Indonesia’s commitment to introducing cutting-edge technological innovations and becoming a leader in the global technology industry.”

This statement was made by the Minister of Communication and Information Technology following his participation in the Minister Digital Economy Working Group meeting held in Bengaluru, India. This meeting is an invaluable platform for sharing knowledge and experiences between Indonesia and India as they navigate the challenges and opportunities of the rapidly evolving digital economy.

During the meeting, Minister Budi Arie Setiadi appreciated the opportunities provided to Indonesia. It encompasses various efforts made by both countries to promote digitalisation across multiple sectors. Indonesia and India have collaborated in developing innovative technology ecosystems, enhancing information technology accessibility, and strengthening digital connectivity in their respective regions.

Both countries have also worked together to promote investments in technology, support startups and young innovators, and facilitate knowledge exchange in the digital economy sector. This meeting reflects the commitment of Indonesia and India to strengthen further cooperation in addressing the global digital revolution and leveraging the potential of the digital economy for the well-being of their respective societies.

“As the Official Partner Country at Hannover Messe and through this meeting, Indonesia solidifies its position as a significant player in the global technology arena while forging close cooperation with strategic partner countries like India to achieve common goals in advancing the digital economy and harnessing the potential of technology to enhance the quality of life for their citizens,” Minister Budi Arie Setiadi expressed.

Through this bilateral meeting, Minister Budi Arie Setiadi firmly stated that Indonesia and Germany have incredible opportunities to establish close cooperation in digitalisation. One tangible proof of this commitment is the signing of the Joint Declaration of Intent, marking a significant step in building and strengthening the already excellent bilateral relations between these two countries, particularly in digitalisation.

Minister Budi Arie Setiadi emphasised that the Indonesian government eagerly anticipates that this cooperation will substantially impact both nations. Global digital transformation has opened new opportunities across various aspects of life, including the economy, innovation, and public services. Therefore, the Indonesian government hopes that collaboration with Germany in this realm will catalyse prosperity and progress for both countries.

It is envisioned that innovations and technological breakthroughs will emerge, benefiting the citizens of both nations. By sharing knowledge, resources, and experiences, both countries can jointly tackle this digital era’s complex challenges and optimise the potential for success.
