The State Cyber and Cryptography Agency of the Republic of Indonesia (BSSN RI) has taken a significant step in realising a strategic collaboration regarding cybersecurity. Recently, BSSN RI has conducted the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Cooperation Agreement (CA) that marks a close collaboration with the Nusantara Capital Region (IKN). BSSN RI has formulated a robust framework for cooperation with the Nusantara Capital Region to enhance the level of cybersecurity and cyber resilience in this region.

The achieved collaboration, now an integral part of the MoU and CA, addresses critical aspects related to cybersecurity. The Memorandum of Understanding focuses on protecting information and electronic transactions, which are vital components of the current digital era. Meanwhile, the Cooperation Agreement centres on utilising electronic certificates within the context of electronic systems in the Nusantara Capital Region environment.

Bambang Susantono, the Head of the Nusantara Capital Region, expressed a compelling vision of multifaceted endeavours geared towards investments and beyond. Among these visionary pursuits, a remarkable focus has been placed on materialising the quintessential principles encapsulated within the five core Nusantara Capital Region (IKN) brandings. These encompass transforming the capital region into a smart city, a green city that embraces inclusivity and resilience, all while preserving sustainability as a cornerstone.

Bambang asserted, “Resilience, undoubtedly underscores the realm of digital fortitude, an embodiment of digital strength and preparedness. As we delve into the digital age, safeguarding our cyber domains becomes paramount, hence the significance of cybersecurity. The forthcoming cyber landscape will undoubtedly be fortified through the invaluable collaboration with the esteemed BSSN.”

Hinsa Siburian, the Head of BSSN, elucidated that the ceremonial signing of the Memorandum of Understanding and the Cooperation Agreement between the State Cyber and Cryptography Agency and the eminent Nusantara Capital Region holds a profound intent. This historic milestone is poised to set a robust foundation for a synergistic and mutually enriching partnership. The overarching goal centres on advancing the calibre of information and electronic transaction protection, an objective that resonates profoundly in our digital age.

Hinsa expounded on the correlative nature of heightened technological utilisation and an escalating risk and threat landscape in an era characterised by a prolific embrace of information and communication technologies. “In effect,” he emphasised, “the crescendo in technological reliance necessitates a harmonised crescendo in cybersecurity efforts. It’s an intricate dance between technological prowess and resilient defense mechanisms.”

Thus, elucidating the comprehensive cybersecurity landscape is deemed imperative—an adaptive and forward-looking endeavour encompassing a dynamic defence against a multifaceted spectrum of cyber threats. This proactive approach aims to shield not only the tangible assets of the cyber domain but also its intangible wealth of information, insulating it from both technical and socio-cognitive cyber incursions.

In earnest anticipation, Hinsa conveyed an optimistic outlook, aspirationally contemplating how the binding signatures on the MoU and CA between the distinguished BSSN and the visionary IKN Authority could magnify synergistic collaboration. This joint commitment, he believed, could usher in a new era of fortified cybersecurity and resilience across Indonesia.
