An announcement by the Universitas
Gadjah Mada (UGM) highlighted the launch of an application that optimises patient
services.
Hospitals in Indonesia are plagued with issues related
to patient services such as registration and long queues. RSA UGM Online is an android-based
application that was launched by UGM Academic Hospital in March 2018, in
conjunction with its 6th anniversary. The use of this application
assures better services for their patients.
The UGM Academic Hospital is the first among 24 other
hospitals under the Research, Technology and Higher Education Ministry to have been accredited completely. At
the time of its accreditation, the Ministry also built hospitals at 24 other
universities.
During its accreditation, Secretary General of Research,
Technology, and Higher Learning Ministry, Prof. Ainun Naim, Ph.D, representing
the Minister, said, “At that time, the Ministry built hospitals at 24
universities. Thank God, UGM is the first to get such good accreditation. I
hope this kind of accreditation can spread to other universities. It is our
duty to make equal services in education, including health, to all universities
in Indonesia.”
He also added that health sector and science and
technology for health services should be a priority for development planning in
developed countries. Hence, it is about time for universities or education
sector to focus on hospital development. He even compared how the health
industry in neighbouring countries like Malaysia, Singapore and Australia are
not only for humanitarian services but also for the economic sector.
The RSA UGM Online application
is equipped with several features that will provide an uncomplicated life for
patients. It has the capability to check the schedules of doctors. It will
provide patients with information on the number of available beds. Health
articles can also be found in the app. Laboratory results and registration can
be done through the application, thereby removing the hassle of queuing.
Benefits of the application include convenience as
well as an increased competitiveness for the UGM Academic Hospital in the era
of digital transformation.
“We will make online registrations possible. We will
also make other innovations to make things better,” said Director of UGM
Academic Hospital, Prof dr Arif Faisal SpRad (K)., on Wednesday, 16 May 2018.
The main feature of RSA UGM Online is
online registration, enabling to upload documents online. This removes the need
for the patients to manually bring their documents to the hospital. The app
also enables the patient to use their health security (BPJS) card because of
the integration with RSA UGM Online system. All requests made by out-patients
are just entered in the admission system.
BJPS stands for Badan Penyelenggara Jaminan Sosial (Social Insurance Administration
Organisation). It is the one responsible for administering Jaminan Kesehatan
Nasional (JKN), the Indonesian national health insurance.
The patients can monitor the schedules and
availability of their doctors making it easier for them to choose which day is
most convenient to make an appointment. They have the option to change the
schedules they have chosen, especially if it looks like the doctor has a lot of
patients on their chosen day.
Gamatechno is the company responsible for
developing RSA UGM Online. It is a university-based company that creates
appropriate solutions for the needs of the community by using the resources and
research assets owned by UGM to innovate and develop products and services.
The application has been available for downloading
since 7 May 2018.
