Training prepares Filipino women for Fourth Industrial Revolution

25 women were selected by the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) who will undergo a Digital Marketing and e-Commerce training.

This was made possible through the Department’s Rural Impact and Sourcing (RIS) Technical Training Program, according to a recent report.

The RIS Technical Training for Women is a special course under the RIS Technical Training Program in order to guarantee that Filipinos especially women can compete in the industry especially in the age of the Fourth Industrial Revolution.

Trainees will undergo a 10-day face-to-face sessions with practical exercises.

This will be followed by a 21-day immersion wherein trainees will create digital campaign strategies for Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs), which can be a venue for their future collaboration.

The training is in collaboration with the Local Government of Taytay, the International Labour Organisation (ILO), and JP Morgan.

The Department is grateful to be the government partner in this initiative, especially now that technology is said to be replacing the human workforce.

The Filipinos, especially those in the countryside, need to be equipped with the right skills and knowledge that will prepare them as the workforce and work environment are changing.

There are 65 targeted key areas in the countryside where the RIS Training Program will be conducted this year.

This will enable the residents to compete for online jobs in the freelancing and home-based outsourcing industry segments and firms.

Aside from empowering the local talents with the skills and knowledge, the training is also a good venue for collaboration since it also provides an online marketing opportunity for MSMEs.

This training is one of the ways that both the government and the ICT-BPM industry are ensuring that Filipinos are future ready.

According to the Department of Labour and Employment (DOLE), work opportunities within the next six years will change.

An estimated 2.5 million jobs that will be available in the future are mostly home-based. DICT sees this as an opportunity to continue with its mission for countryside development.

An earlier report highlighted the Rural Impact Sourcing. It is a technical training program, initiated by the Department, which promotes ICT-enabled jobs as a high value economic activity in the rural communities.

The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is the Philippine Government’s lead agency on ICT related matters. Its primary thrusts are in the ICT Industry Development, eGovernment, ICT policy development, Internet for all and Cybersecurity.

The International Labour Organisation (ILO) is a specialised United Nations Agency consistent with the development direction of the Government of the Philippines to create sustainable, decent jobs in all types of enterprises.
