OpenGov Asia held the fifth edition of its Annual Malaysian OGLF. The forum included stimulating round-table discussions with innovative gamification methods, engaging panels and insightful talks by local and international leaders in public sector ICT.
Concurrently, OpenGov Asia held the OpenGov Recognition of Excellence (RoE) 2019, a commendation that aims to establish new benchmarks for government ICT innovation in the ASEAN and ANZ regions.
Over the last year, Malaysia has been setting the bar for innovation and technological advancement. The region has worked continuously to inspire and sustain innovation through its policies, infrastructure and economic decisions.
This year, OpenGov recognised 12 Malaysian government agencies that are working to support Malaysia’s digital transformation efforts.
The award winners for Malaysian OpenGov Recognition of Excellence 2019 are:
Malaysian Administrative Modernisation and Management Planning Unit (MAMPU)
OpenGov recognised MAMPU for shared services platform. Public Sector Data Centre provides integrated shared services to government agencies such as Physical & Virtual Server Hosting, Data Centre and Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC), Gateway Viruswall, Backup & Restore Services, and Support Services. This holistic offering is cost saving and utilises green technology to provide multiple services to many government agencies.
Malaysian Institute of Accountants
OpenGov recognised Malaysian Institute of Accountants for MIA Digital Technology Blueprint.
With the rise of digital economy and Industry 4.0, MIA has launched its Digital Technology Blueprint with the purpose to prepare accountancy professionals for the digital world.
The blueprint also includes MIA’s role in supporting accountants through educating and upskilling initiatives in the areas of BDA, Cybersecurity, Automation and AI.
Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated)

OpenGov recognised Menteri Besar Selangor (Incorporated) for its Smart Selangor WiFi Project and the Smart Selangor Parking Project.
In line with the Smart Selangor Plan, the Smart Selangor Parking (SSP) is a parking payment app enabling citizens to pay for their parking and traffic summons through this app for multiple vehicles in multiple council areas.
The Smart Selangor WiFi Project is an initiative to provide free WiFi access to citizens all around Selangor.
