The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) is set to conduct another DigitalJobsPH technical training in this city and Lanao del Sur. The purpose of this is to enhance technology skills and capabilities of an online worker.

According to a press release, offering various tracks of free online technical training, this year’s DigitalJobsPh is DICT’s response to the commitment of the government in providing online opportunities in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. DICT-Mindanao Cluster 3 Regional Director Alimbzar P. Asum said in an interview that the training aims to enhance the information and communications technology (ICT) skills and competencies of the residents that will help them in venturing into the digital world.

Formerly known as Rural Impact Sourcing or RIS, DigitalJobsPh aims to provide alternative learning options and opportunities for the people during the quarantine period through skills development in the comfort of their homes. DICT-Mindanao Cluster 3 has opened the applications for interested residents of Lanao del Sur. Interested applicants must be a resident of the province and have a laptop or desktop computer and a stable, reliable internet connection. Accepted scholars will be trained with ICT-skills and knowledge particularly in social media marketing and advertising.

The technical training will run for about two months with training sessions for 16 days, 4 hours per session for a total of 64 hours. Aspiring applicants can register through the official link. The deadline for application is on 3 September at noon.

Earlier this month, the Department of Science and Technology-Forest Products Research and Development Institute (DOST-FPRDI) began offering free online, webinar training in support of forest-based and allied sectors affected by the COVID-19 pandemic. DOST-FPRDI’s Chief Training and Manpower Delivery Services Section (TMDSS) Dr Maria Cielito G. Siladan emphasised the importance of online platforms in continuously providing technical assistance to DOST-FPRDI’s clients.

According to an OpenGov report, she stated that the DOST-FPRDI believes that the physical distancing the country is currently experiencing should not hinder learning. Thus, the Institute is shifting to the use of online platforms to continuously provide technical assistance and training to its clients.

Recently, the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) launched its online trade fair featuring Gawang Pinay, the first completely online trade fair, which puts a spotlight on wares, businesses, and trade organisations by Filipino women. According to DTI, Gawang-Pinay is a campaign that supports products, businesses, and trade organisations by Filipino women and Filipinos who identify themselves as women.

The online trade fair will run for two weeks to promote businesses and enterprises that are either run by women or employ a majority of women. Featured stores include Mori Notes, Gifts and Graces Fair Trade Foundation, Inc., Everything Green, Bambuhay, and more.
