Hai Phong City has launched the Hai Phong City Tour digital map and an online tourism platform. Hai Pong City Tour is based on Google maps and features a modern and professional design. The government expects it to provide convenient and effective support for tourists visiting the city.
Tourists can access this digital map at the government’s portal to search for information about routes to desired restaurants, check-in locations, and hotels. The map also shows visitors’ reviews of local places. Meanwhile, the online tourism platform, which can be accessed via its website or the Traveloka app, provides useful information about Hai Phong tourism, reputable accommodation facilities, facility reviews, and recommendations. It also helps users book services, according to officials.
At the launch of the digital map and platform earlier this week, the Director of the municipal Tourism Department, Nguyen Thi Thuong Huyen, said that as part of efforts to deploy IT applications in tourism promotion, the department has increased popularising local destinations on official websites as well as popular social networks.
City authorities launched a tourism promotion campaign on TikTok. From 20 September to 20 November, the tourism promotion campaign #HelloHaiPhong will take place on the social media platform to encourage users to create short videos about the city’s landscapes, culture, and cuisine. This drive aims to attract 1,000 videos and 150 million views to inspire people’s interest in local tourism. On this occasion, the department launched its official channel, Haiphongtourismofficial, which is also a step to boost tourism promotion on digital platforms.
Applying information technology to the management and display of artefacts, the supply of information for visitors and researchers, and the creation of a digital database of artefacts in 3D form will contribute to preserving and restoring Hai Phong’s artefacts. It will also drive the formation and development of smart tourism and digital museums, promoting the value of Hai Phong’s tourism industry.
Last month, Hai Phong’s Department of Science and Technology and Department of Tourism held a workshop to seek breakthroughs in local tourism amid the fourth industrial revolution. The Departments outlined strategic orientations and sci-tech solutions to modernise the city’s tourism sector on the back of comprehensive digital transformation. Businesses, units, and individuals that attended the event learnt about solutions from experts and IT companies to improve the competitiveness of tourism products and optimise tourists’ experiences when they visit the city.
The event also looked to effectively realise the government’s resolution on digital transformation till 2025 with a vision to 2030 issued by the standing board of the municipal party committee. The resolution targets the launch of digital tourism utilities like smart travel cards, the digitalisation of destinations and tourist products in the city, the development of a tour guide app and the hosting of virtual reality tours of relic sites and well-known destinations. Representatives from businesses and units discussed sci-tech solutions and introduced the application of Smart Tourism 3D/360 in tourism development.
