Western Australia: CORE Innovation Hub Drives Growth

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In the sphere of advanced technology, an autonomous robotic systems company has selected Meridian Park at Neerabup in Australia as its office location, focusing on the advantages offered by the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) to the north of Perth. This choice provides the company with access to the AARP’s testing facilities.

The company’s plan for the Meridian Park space is to further its development and expansion of purpose-built advanced robotic automated systems. Within these industrial grounds, it will take on the responsibilities of overseeing and supporting the global Autonomous Haulage System (AHS), providing global technology support, and managing AHS product initiatives.

A notable development in this endeavour is the commencement of work on an AU$7.3 million Common User Facility operations building. This structure is designed to encompass laboratories, warehouse spaces, training and meeting rooms, as well as co-working and collaboration areas. The facility is poised to serve as the AARP Headquarters, running on emission-free solar power connected to a modern battery and microgrid network.

The AARP, extending across an expansive 51 hectares, stands as Australia’s largest research precinct dedicated to automation, robotics, remote operations, and zero emissions technology. The precinct is meticulously managed by CORE Innovation Hub, a national innovation ecosystem and infrastructure builder.

Key government figures have noted the significance of the AARP in driving growth within the industry and nurturing collaboration in emerging technology sectors. Furthermore, they foresee the AARP becoming a sought-after destination for both local and global tech companies keen to innovate in this dynamic field. As it unfolds, the AARP promises to be a beacon for innovation and collaboration, providing an ideal environment for testing and development.

OpenGov Asia has earlier reported that CORE Innovation Hub had taken on the role of an operator at the Western Australia government’s Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) in Perth’s north. Launched in October 2021, the AARP was launched by the State Government, through DevelopmentWA’s Industrial Lands Authority, as an industry-leading research, development and testing ground for automation, remote operations, and robotics.

The initial three-year contract will see CORE take responsibility for attracting, securing and retaining new partners and users at the Neerabup precinct. CORE will lead an industry-driven collaboration model with industry partners and be responsible for the curation and showcasing of projects on behalf of the State Government. This includes the staging of industry events, and promoting skills and ideas exchanges between like-minded innovators, customers, TAFEs, and universities.

CORE Innovation Hub’s appointment as the operator of the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) in Neerabup, Western Australia, is a pivotal step in the AARP’s mission to become a premier research and testing ground for automation, robotics, and remote operations.

the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP) in Neerabup, Western Australia, signifies a promising hub for technological innovation and collaboration, supported by the CORE Innovation Hub and government efforts.

The government’s focus on reform, innovation, and job creation aligns with the AARP’s objectives. The precinct is expected to create jobs and stimulate economic transformation, with the development of the AARP generating both construction and ongoing employment opportunities. This partnership reinforces the AARP’s role as a hub for technological advancement and collaboration.
