China has unveiled an initiative to expedite the development of a national computing power network, as announced by the National Data Bureau. Tagged as the “east data, west computing,” is set to invigorate high-standard economic development through the cultivation of high-quality computing power, thereby contributing to the fortification of the country’s cyberspace strength and the realisation of a truly digital China.
The comprehensive implementation plan, jointly released by five key authorities including the National Data Bureau and the National Development and Reform Commission, outlines a transformative roadmap.
By the culmination of 2025, the objective is to establish a preliminary and comprehensive computing power infrastructure system. Crucially, the plan envisions that over 60% of the national new computing power will emanate from new computing hubs, rendering the computing power more accessible and cost-effective.
