This ambitious endeavour is the result of a strategic partnership between Da Nang International Terminal Investment and Operation JSC (AHT) and FPT Software, a leading player in technology solutions.

Announced on April 22, this collaboration aims to catalyse digital transformation in the short term while laying the groundwork for comprehensive modernisation in the long term. The primary objective is to develop Vietnam’s first smart airport terminal, streamlining processing procedures and elevating passengers’ overall experience.

Scheduled for deployment in the second quarter of this year with completion expected by October, the initiative encompasses ten vital additions. Key initiatives include the deployment of AI-powered cameras strategically positioned across aviation procedure sones to assess density, enabling operators to swiftly identify congestion areas and implement effective solutions.

Moreover, the deployment of additional mobile applications, interactive terminal navigation and a new multilingual website is poised to revolutionise passenger experience by providing real-time updates and streamlined access to essential information.

To enhance user convenience, a user-friendly multilingual website will be developed, facilitating seamless access to essential information. Furthermore, interactive touch-screen systems will be deployed throughout the terminal, empowering passengers to access information and provide feedback, thus driving continuous improvements.

AHT Deputy General Director Do Trong Hau emphasises the critical role of tailored solutions in successful digital transformation projects. Instead of adopting off-the-shelf solutions, the terminal has opted for a collaborative approach with FPT Software to develop customised solutions aligned with the station’s unique requirements.

By partnering to develop tailored solutions, Da Nang Airport aims to revolutionise aviation services, minimise processing times, enhance passenger satisfaction, and contribute to the flourishing tourism landscape of Da Nang city.

Da Nang International Terminal continues to raise the bar for excellence in passenger experience. With recent advancements including autogates, automatic boarding gates, and self-check-in kiosks, coupled with the forthcoming smart terminal initiatives, Da Nang Airport reaffirms its position as an innovator in Vietnam’s aviation industry, offering travellers a seamless and technologically advanced journey experience.

Building on its recent recognition with a 5-star rating by Skytrax organisation, Da Nang International Terminal is committed to further technological advancements to enhance passenger convenience and optimise operational efficiency, ultimately striving to set the benchmark for smart airport terminals in Vietnam.

In Vietnam, the convergence of digital transformation and green economic transition is gaining traction, propelled by concerted efforts to raise awareness and foster the adoption of digital practices among businesses nationwide. Led by the MPI’s Enterprise Development Department (EDD), a comprehensive digital transformation programme from 2021 to 2025 aims to accelerate Vietnam’s sustainable growth trajectory.

The annual Report on Digital Transformation 2023, jointly launched by the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), sheds light on the evolving landscape of digital and green transitions, offering valuable insights for enterprises navigating this transformative journey. The report underscores the global momentum towards sustainable productivity enhancement, climate resilience, and emissions reduction, with digital technology serving as a key enabler.

Parallelly, the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) is spearheading a digital transformation initiative focused on the energy sector, aiming to streamline administrative processes and digitise documents to enhance operational efficiency and accessibility. With targets set to elevate Vietnam’s energy infrastructure and expand electricity access, initiatives such as EVN’s deployment of electricity e-meters underscore the nation’s commitment to fostering transparency and resilience in its energy landscape.
