Vietnam’s technology landscape received a significant boost with the commencement of the technology talent development programme, initiated by the Vietnam National Innovation Centre (NIC) and a leading technology corporation.

Deputy Minister of Planning and Investment Nguyen Thi Bich Ngoc, speaking at the inauguration, underscored the programme’s role in solidifying the collaboration between the technology corporation and NIC, aimed at realising their shared vision. The initiative seeks to propel Vietnam further into the global production value chain, positioning it as a hub for innovation in the region and beyond.

Ngoc commended the corporation’s commitment and partnership with the Ministry of Planning and Investment, NIC, and relevant ministries and sectors in nurturing innovative and high-tech capabilities among young Vietnamese. The collaboration is pivotal in cultivating talents aligned with the demands of the Fourth Industrial Revolution, she acknowledged.

The General Director of the technology corporation highlighted the programme as a transformative platform for grooming Vietnamese youth into technology talents. He expressed optimism about the programme’s potential to invigorate talent development endeavours, driving greater success in the future.

The corporation, in collaboration with NIC, is set to conduct training courses focusing on Artificial Intelligence (AI), the Internet of Things (IoT), and Big Data for approximately 200 students from select member universities of the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and FPT University. These intensive three-month courses aim to blend core future technology skills with essential soft skills and practical work experience.

Upon completion, students will receive certifications and opportunities to engage in additional project activities, including an Innovation Tech Challenge – an avenue for applying acquired knowledge and skills to real-world scenarios. Furthermore, students will benefit from complimentary language courses and interact with industry professionals, gaining valuable insights into potential career pathways within the IT industry.

The establishment of the programme underscores the corporation’s commitment to supporting NIC’s initiatives in response to the Vietnamese government’s call to train 50,000 semiconductor engineers by 2030. Through initiatives like this, the technology landscape in Vietnam is poised to witness exponential growth, fueled by collaborative efforts between industry leaders and educational institutions.

Vietnam’s digital ambitions are rapidly extending beyond its borders, as the nation seeks to position itself as a prominent player in the global digital landscape. With aspirations to become a regional digital hub, Vietnam is actively working to expand its presence on the global stage.
