“The latest technology will enable us to maximise digital transformation in the telecommunications sector. We expect the Indonesian Telecommunications Society (MASTEL) will also be involved in promoting the utilisation of continuously evolving technologies, including the Internet of Things,” he stated.

Minister Budi Arie highlighted several initiatives that utilise the latest technology, which can serve as examples. One of them is the British startup, which provides practical, responsive, and low-cost communication protocol interoperability services for customers. There is also a startup from America, which develops edge computing with improved network performance at an economical cost. “In Spain, there is also an innovation, which uses satellite constellations as cell towers to operate IoT devices flexibly without the need for hardware adjustments,” he added.

According to the Minister of Communication and Information Technology, many new innovations are emerging in telecommunications technology. To maximise digital transformation in the telecommunications sector, the government and industry must adopt an innovative, agile, and open-minded approach. He stressed the importance of collaboration between the government and stakeholders in realising shared goals in the digital sector.

“We need to see the utilisation of these future technologies as opportunities to advance the telecommunications sector continuously,” he asserted. Minister Budi Arie also explained that the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology has launched the Vision for Digital Indonesia 2045 as a roadmap for national digital transformation policies. This vision is a policy planning document encompassing eight main strategies: equal distribution of connectivity and digital infrastructure, mastery of digital technology, data sovereignty and privacy protection, strengthening technology and cybersecurity ecosystems, building a digital society, forming adaptive regulations and institutions, increasing investment in the digital field, and multi-stakeholder collaboration.

“I urge all parties to have the spirit and optimism to realise Indonesia Emas 2045. With full optimism and spirit, we are confident that we can achieve Indonesia Emas 2045,” he encouraged.

Previously, the Minister of Communication and Information Technology appreciated MASTEL’s role in advancing the telecommunications sector in Indonesia. “I would like to appreciate once again MASTEL’s role as a stakeholder network as well as a strategic partner of the government in advancing the telecommunications sector in Indonesia. MASTEL has shown high consistency in fostering collaboration and sharpening dedication to the nation,” he said.

PC Cloud Terminals were also symbolically handed over to the Yogyakarta College of Multimedia (STMM) as part of the cooperation between MASTEL and STMM regarding the Provision, Operation, and Utilisation of the PC Cloud Laboratory for Digital Literacy. Minister Budi Arie was accompanied by Deputy Minister of Communication and Information Technology Nezar Patria, Director General of Resources and Postal and Informatics Devices Ismail, Head of the Human Resource Development Agency Hary Budiarto, and Special Staff to the Minister Widodo Muktiyo.

Digital transformation, supported by the latest technologies such as IoT, edge computing, and satellite constellations, is expected to bring significant changes to Indonesia, both in terms of innovation and the creation of new jobs.

With the Vision for Digital Indonesia 2045, it is envisioned that Indonesia can become one of the leading countries in the adoption of digital technology, laying a solid foundation for Indonesia Emas 2045.
