The Ministry of Information and Communications has taken proactive steps by granting licenses for the establishment of 5G networks and terrestrial mobile information services. This strategic move paves the way for nationwide 5G deployment in 2024, laying the foundation for a robust digital infrastructure that will power Vietnam’s economic growth and societal advancement.
Looking ahead, Vietnam is positioning itself as a global leader in 6G technology. The establishment of a dedicated 6G Steering Committee underscores Vietnam’s commitment to driving technological innovation and staying at the forefront of global advancements. While the 6G network is still in the research and development stage, Vietnam aims to unveil this groundbreaking technology by 2028 or 2030, positioning itself as a frontrunner in the digital era.
Leading telecommunications companies like Viettel, VNPT, and MobiFone are actively engaged in 6G research and development, signalling Vietnam’s commitment to global standards and technological excellence. Deputy Minister Phạm Đức Long stressed the importance of seizing opportunities in the burgeoning 6G industry, highlighting Vietnam’s determination to lead in the digital age.
