An ambulance journey supervision and management utility has been launched on DanaMap or the Danang Smart City application in the central city of Da Nang. The utility allows the municipal Emergency Centre, the Health Department, and residents to monitor the operation of ambulances.
The Department is also exploring the possibility of launching videos that demonstrate how to carry out remote check-ups for patients on ambulances and a database of patients to help doctors check their disease history. A private company funded the installation of tablets on ambulances.
Following the pilot period from 5 August to 15 September, nearly 2,500 ambulances have been added to the app. According to the Deputy Director of the municipal Department of Information and Communications, Tran Ngoc Thach, soon, the department will work closely with the city’s fire-fighting police and Da Nang Urban Environment JSC to monitor the operation of fire engines and garbage trucks in the city on the app.
The initiative is a part of a series of projects to completely digitise the city’s operations, following the government’s national digital transformation strategy. In the 2021 Digital Transformation Index (DTI) rankings, released in August, Da Nang topped the list for cities and provinces, scoring 0.6419 points, 0.1545 higher than the 2020 ranking released last year.
Last year, Da Nang signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with one of the country’s largest IT groups on digital transformation in the 2021-25 period, accelerating the smart city project in 2030. The MoU was developed from the cooperation deal between the group and Da Nang in 2018-20 in boosting the digitalisation process and putting the city on the list of ASEAN smart city networks by 2030.
The agreement aimed to speed up the digital transformation process in the city and build Da Nang into an eco-urban and a ‘liveable and smart’ city in the coming years. It focuses on the smart city framework for traffic, education, natural resources and environment, health, agriculture, trade, and industry and information and communications. The IT group had launched a management system at 12 hospitals in the city in providing service for 3 million patients per year.
In February, Da Nang became the second city in Southeast Asia to deploy chatbot tech for tourism. In an attempt to increase the variety of tourist self-service tools and information channels, the municipal Tourism Department coordinated with a private artificial intelligence (AI) developer to create and pilot Chatbot Danang Fantasticity, the first automatic tourism information search and support channel via text message conversation in Vietnam.
More recently, authorities in Da Nang held a seminar on improving digital transformation capacity and smart lighting solutions at tourist accommodation establishments in 2022. The event was an opportunity for associations and businesses providing services to explore solutions for digital transformation, smart lighting, and convenient and smart technology. The first step in the process of tourism digital transformation is to upgrade facilities and invest in modern equipment for accommodation facilities to meet the needs of personalised experiences.
