China’s Ambitions for Inclusive Global Connectivity

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

Vice-chairman of the China International Development Cooperation Agency Zhong Haidong emphasised China’s commitment to advancing digital connectivity for global economic growth and development. He highlighted the disparities in digital connectivity that already exist and the need for a more robust digital infrastructure in some nations, particularly developing ones.

To support communication network infrastructure in these nations, such as 5G, the Internet of Things (IoT), satellite-based internet access, cross-border networks, and industrial internet, he advocated for enhanced infrastructure development activities.

Zhong emphasised China’s ability to offer service and technological support to hasten the digital transformation of diverse industries. Public services, transportation, energy, education, and customs are some of these industries, along with the general development of smart cities in nations and regions that need assistance.

The switch from conventional to digital, intelligent, and networked connectivity has been actively pushed by China. As a result, cordial collaboration has been established with developing nations in Asia, Africa, Latin America, and the South Pacific, where China has proven to be a successful example of linked and smart development.

Chinese businesses have made a considerable contribution to the development of national broadband networks, e-government networks, and e-commerce platforms in several nations.

Zhong continued by saying that connectivity and cooperation are essential for progress. China is dedicated to collaborating with nations all over the world to develop in a way that is smart and interconnected to create a new engine for inclusive growth and digital transformation.

Ivan Acosta Montalvan, Nicaragua’s Minister of Finance and Public Credit, endorsed this viewpoint and emphasised the transformative potential of interconnection in education. He said it might close the development gap between urban and rural areas, allowing less developed countries to advance alongside emerging economies.

Ahsan Iqbal, Pakistan’s Minister of Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, reaffirmed his nation’s dedication to giving different fields, including artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity, automation, robots, big data, and cloud computing, a top priority. To increase its potential for innovation and competitiveness, Pakistan wants to encourage cooperation between its research, business, and academic organisations and their Chinese counterparts.

According to Fang Qiuchen, president of the China International Contractors Association, it is crucial for Chinese businesses to support talent development, advance digital industry standardisation, and promote the expansion of cross-border e-commerce within local communities in addition to helping developing nations build out their digital infrastructure.

Business leaders said that the group will keep bolstering enterprises with “new infrastructure”. They want to advance the smart transport sector domestically and abroad by utilising technology to support continuing digital transformation.

China’s dedication to working with all parties involved, especially developing nations, to enhance digital connection highlights the nation’s commitment to worldwide growth and development. China wants to close the digital divide and build a more connected and inclusive world by exchanging knowledge, offering support, and encouraging cooperation.

Digital alliances give China and partner nations the chance to share talent. The digital workforce can be improved by this interchange of knowledge and qualified personnel, which can also foster cross-cultural understanding and develop international ties.

China may establish itself as a worldwide leader in the digital sphere by increasing its digital collaboration network. Through cooperation, China can strengthen its position as a major player in the digital era by helping to establish international norms, reshape global frameworks for digital governance, and drive the development of emerging technologies.
