Two tech companies operating within Hong Kong’s Smart Government Innovation Lab announced the roll-out of solutions that are now ready to be acquired by companies and institutions.
Solution I – Federated Messaging Orchestration Platform (FMOP)
Solution description
A firm under Hong Kong’s Smart Government Innovation Lab has launched a Federated Messaging Orchestration Platform (FMOP). The solution is an enterprise-grade business communication platform that creates an accessible digital record of all business interactions carried out over mobile messaging applications.
FMOP is an interoperable, mobile-first solution that provides unparalleled visibility into data from instant messaging applications, as well as governance and control. This enables enterprises to embrace a customer-centred approach while maintaining professional conduct and ensuring compliance.
Application areas
The solution was developed to improve the areas of Employment of Labour, Instant Messaging as well as Employee Communications.
Technologies Used
The solution uses the latest in Mobile Technologies.
Use case
Potential value-added applications:
- Continuous conversations between project management teams, external suppliers/vendors, government departments/regulatory institutions and customers.
- Improved control and visibility of project conversations with the ability to integrate with internal communications and business-critical applications.
Solution II – LiDAR SLAM for real-time 3D mapping
Solution description
Mapping in an area where GPS is not available is complex, time-consuming, and usually requires the use of bulky static assemblies. Tunnels, caves, and mining sites need a faster, safer, and more precise method of surveying and mapping. LiDAR SLAM is an innovative navigation tool that can be used in several applications such as environment mapping, surveying, and automatic 3D model creation in real-time. The high accuracy and fast processing speed of LiDAR save data collection time and resources while delivering exceptional performance in the field of localization, detection, and monitoring.
The solution uses 3D LiDAR SLAM technology to create a map and a 3D model of an environment on the go, without any prior knowledge of the surroundings. Automatically obtained 3D models are precise and accurate and offer reliable data for further processing.
Application Areas
The solution was developed to be applied across the areas of City Management, Commerce and Industry, Infrastructure as well as Transport.
Technologies Used
The solution employs the latest in Artificial Intelligence (AI), Internet of Things (IoT), LiDAR sensor and SLAM technologies.
Use case
Person detection and track monitoring are one of the main challenges faced by railway companies currently. Real-time object detection with distance measurement can prevent incidents, increase safety and increase system reliability. The firm utilised LiDAR sensor and Video Cameras fusion to develop and demonstrate more reliable and accurate real-time person detection and distance measurement algorithms. The system can be installed on passenger trains, locomotives, and other railway vehicles, providing safe, secure and accurate surveillance and monitoring.
About the Hong Kong Smart Government Innovation Lab
In 2018, the Government established the Smart Government Innovation Lab to explore hi-tech products such as AI and relevant technologies, including machine learning, big data analytics, cognitive systems and intelligent agent, as well as blockchain and robotics from firms, especially local start-ups.
The Lab is always on the lookout for innovation and technology (I&T) solutions that are conducive to enhancing public services or their operational effectiveness. I&T suppliers are encouraged to regularly visit the Lab’s website to check on the current business and operational needs in public service delivery and propose innovative solutions or product suggestions to address them.
