Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the People’s Government of Jinjiang City, Fujian Province have agreed to collaborate on promoting co-construction in Jinjiang. They will establish a joint obstetric research project and contribute to the development of the new century offshore silk road economic belt.

Jinjiang City Science and Technology Bureau and Ricoh Science and Technology and Innovation Policy Research Center have partnered to conduct a research project on introducing and using Hong Kong’s technology resources to address Jinjiang’s industrial modernization needs. The project aims to enhance scientific cooperation and upgrade the Jinjiang industry, with the Science and Technology Bureau providing funding support.

A signing ceremony for a five-year cooperation framework agreement was held recently, witnessed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors and the Mayor of Jinjiang City. The representatives of the Polytechnic University and the Jinjiang City Committee signed the agreement.

Additionally, a research cooperation agreement was signed by PolyU’s Vice President of Research and Innovation, the Director of the Center for Science and Technology and Innovation Policy Research, and the Director of the Jinjiang City Government Office.

The Chairman of the Board of Directors stated that the Hong Kong Genji development is highly valued by the central government, with support to promote collaboration between officials, industry, academia, and research for new development opportunities.

The partnership between PolyU and Jinjiang City is expected to leverage their respective strengths to build a research and exchange platform, focusing on obstetrics and production. This will include areas such as textiles, smart manufacturing, integrated circuits, and green technology, with a goal to strengthen scientific and technological exchange and make use of Hong Kong and Liang Ketun resources to upgrade the Jinyang industry.

The Mayor of Jinjiang City expressed that the city is at a crucial stage of upgrading its traditional industries, and the strengths of PolyU in talent and scientific research can be effectively integrated with Jinjiang’s industry and market advantages. The partnership aims to leverage scientific research capabilities and talent to cultivate competitive advantages, enhance training in business management, industry, and administration, and provide strong scientific support in traditional industries such as textiles, shoe suits, and equipment. Additionally, the partnership will focus on fostering innovation and new technologies to support the development of new industries like integrated circuits in Jinjiang.

The partnership will also investigate the establishment of PolyU’s Qinjiang Research Institute, which will be responsible for planning and management, and receive support in terms of site location, funding, scientific research projects, production research cooperation subsidies, and talent introduction policies.

The partnership will also facilitate exchanges between university students, experts, and local professionals, as well as participation in key planning review meetings and serving as experts in the jury of the entrepreneurial team. Jinjiang City will actively promote companies and Lian Dazheng Laboratories, while deepening collaboration in talent development, innovative entrepreneurship, and high-tech result transfer and conversion.

During the visit, the Mayor of Jinjiang City met with representatives of Jinjiang Political Power on the PolyU campus, including renowned entrepreneurs from various sectors such as textile garments, sports shoe suits, food, new materials, and household items.

As part of the visit, they also toured PolyU’s Institute of Intelligent Wearable Systems, Institute of Advanced Manufacturing, and Institute of Artificial Intelligence Internet of Things, to gain insights into the scientific research achievements and future development plans of PolyU in cross-disciplinary research and obstetric research cooperation.
