Vietnam’s potential for digital transformation

Compared with businesses in the US and Europe, the digital transformation process in Vietnamese enterprises is less risky and simpler, a press release has claimed.

Reports all show that the proportion of Vietnamese mobile phone users is higher than the average level in the world and the demand for the services related to mobiles and the internet is increasing rapidly.

Businesses are under increased pressure to optimise their user experience and to create personalised service experiences for each customer. Digital transformation will help Vietnam’s enterprises do this more effectively.

A study found that digital transformation made up 25% of GDP in the Asia Pacific Region in 2019 (6% in 2017), while the figure will be 60% by 2021. Productivity is expected to increase by 21% in 2020 thanks to digital transformation. However, changes will be seen in 85% of careers in the next three years.

Vietnam is the country which has advantages in digital transformation. According to the vice president of Tibco, Vietnam has very impressive economic growth rates with an expected GDP growth rate of 6.5% for 2020 and the next year.

The middle class in Vietnam has been growing the fastest in Southeast Asia, which promises great potential for finance, banking, and insurance sectors.

Vietnam also has great advantages in human resources in technology. There are many schools that are training their staff in IT, which is the source of high-quality labour force majoring in technology and data science.

The release that another advantage that Vietnam can enjoy in the digital transformation process is the lower risks than other countries. Since the information and technology systems in Europe and the US are very large, they have to meet high risks, especially with core systems, every time they need to make adjustments to digitise phases of the production process.

Meanwhile, the systems in Vietnam bear little systematic risks. Vietnam can carry out digital transformation faster and safer. It is the right time for Vietnam to grab opportunities to boost its growth.

International corporations can also provide solutions, including IBM, which is present in Vietnam, while the market may receive Google and domestic technology firms in the future.

In an effort to increase its competitiveness in the Vietnamese market, Tibco said it has cooperated with three Vietnamese universities over the last 10 years of operation in Vietnam. It has also taken Orchestra Networks, a company specialising in data administration.

Vietnam’s enterprises, which are looking for partners for their digital transformation process, have been advised to choose firms which can provide the most suitable solutions.

Further progress in Vietnam’s digital transformation was the piloting of a 5G mobile network in the four cities of Ho Chi Minh City, Hanoi, Da Nang, and Hai Phong.

State-run organisation MobiFone said that the results of the network have been satisfactory, with the download speed at approximately 2Gbps.

With this success, MobiFone is ready to implement a 5G mobile network and applications for customers.

It has also installed the first 5G broadcast stations in the four aforementioned cities.

On the 5G platform, super high-speed data services such as hologram-3D calls via a 5G mobile network, online games using super-high bandwidth like cloud gaming, and virtual interactive applications between people in two different positions, have been successfully tested.
