China Accelerates Industrial Digitalisation

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

China’s Premier Li Qiang has embarked on a strategic mission to expedite new industrialisation, placing a significant emphasis on digital transformation during a State Council executive meeting that has witnessed the adoption of a comprehensive action plan aimed at resolving outstanding payments to companies, along with the drafting of vital regulations for the online protection of minors.

Additionally, the meeting reviewed research results on initiatives designed to sustain economic recovery. Besides, the Central to the State Council’s agenda is the drive to elevate the quality, efficiency, and global competitiveness of China’s industrial landscape.

This ambitious vision underscores the importance of modernising traditional industries while nurturing strategic emerging sectors. The meeting further advocates for the rapid development of advanced manufacturing industries, all within the framework of promoting both digital industrialisation and industrial digitalisation.

A pivotal aspect of this strategy is the mobilisation of various business entities. The State Council is keen to ignite the enthusiasm of enterprises across the spectrum, harnessing the combined power of domestic and international markets and resources. The objective is to infuse fresh vigour into the realm of new industrialisation and digital transformation, marking a significant leap forward in China’s industrial evolution.

In a clear indication of its commitment to revitalising the economy, the meeting has also placed a spotlight on resolving overdue payments owed to companies. A call to action has been issued to provincial-level governments, with a directive to shoulder the responsibility of settling debts owed by local administrations. This proactive stance is expected to provide much-needed financial relief to businesses, enabling them to operate more smoothly and bolstering economic resilience.

Further, the meeting took cognisance of the results of the inspection and research efforts directed towards sustaining economic recovery. It was underscored that any shortcomings identified during this process should be promptly addressed, with the rollout of appropriate policies designed to consolidate the gains made in economic recovery.

This proactive stance reflects China’s unwavering commitment to maintaining a robust economic trajectory. An additional dimension of the State Council’s agenda is safeguarding the well-being of the younger generation. In this regard, the meeting approved a draft regulation on online protection for minors.

This move not only underscores China’s commitment to fostering a safe online environment for its youth but also aligns with global efforts to ensure responsible digital engagement. By urging support for companies to comply with this regulation, the State Council is sending a clear message that the digital landscape must be both innovative and secure.

As China embarks on this ambitious journey towards industrial rejuvenation and digital transformation, the world watches with interest. The country’s commitment to fostering a robust, competitive, and forward-looking industrial ecosystem is evident. The simultaneous focus on bolstering traditional industries and nurturing emerging sectors, coupled with a drive for digitalisation, positions China on the cusp of a transformative era.

The mobilisation of diverse business entities, alongside the exploitation of both domestic and international markets and resources, underscores China’s intent to drive growth through collaborative efforts. The nation’s agility and adaptability in the face of economic challenges, epitomised by the resolve to settle overdue payments, demonstrates a strong commitment to ensuring business sustainability.

In the sphere of digitalisation, China’s efforts to protect its younger citizens online reflect its dedication to safeguarding the interests of the future generation. By formulating and implementing regulations for online protection, the country is taking concrete steps to ensure that the digital landscape remains conducive to learning, creativity, and responsible interaction.
