HKSTP Spearheads Hong Kong’s Digital Evolution

Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

In the dynamic landscape of innovation and technology, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation (HKSTP) stands at the forefront, spearheading initiatives to showcase cutting-edge solutions and drive the city’s evolution into a smart city.

HKSTP and 25 partner companies participated in two prominent events, the “Hong Kong International Innovation and Technology Exhibition 2024” (InnoEX) and the “Hong Kong Spring Electronics Fair,” underscoring Hong Kong’s scientific research strength and commitment to technological advancement.

Themed “Advanced Scientific Research Drives a Smart Future,” the exhibition provided a platform for HKSTP and its partners to showcase the latest breakthroughs across various domains, including “Smart Cities,” “AI and Robotics,” “Digital Business,” and “Marketing Technology.” This event not only highlighted the innovative spirit thriving within the city but also reinforced its position as a hub for technological innovation in the region.

HKSTP’s role in nurturing innovation and supporting the growth of tech enterprises was evident throughout the exhibition. Leveraging its resources and expertise, HKSTP facilitated two startup roadshows, offering partner companies opportunities for business matching, product promotion, and investor engagement.

Moreover, the winning startup from these roadshows will have the chance to expand its reach into the Asian market by participating in the Techsauce Global Summit in Bangkok—an invaluable opportunity to showcase its innovations on a global stage.

Dr Yiu Hing-leung, Chief Corporate Development Director of HKSTP, emphasised the pivotal role of innovation and technology in driving productivity and shaping the future of Hong Kong. He highlighted HKSTP’s commitment to supporting enterprises at every stage of their journey, from research and development to commercialisation. By optimising training and support programs, HKSTP aims to accelerate the process of innovation and promote the development of smart solutions that address real-world challenges.

The exhibition also shed light on Hong Kong’s remarkable progress in embracing cutting-edge technologies. According to the 2023 “Global Frontier Technology Readiness Index” by the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Hong Kong has risen to ninth place globally in the adoption of advanced capabilities like artificial intelligence (AI) and the Internet of Things (IoT). This significant improvement underscores Hong Kong’s growing prominence as a technology hub, attracting talent and investment from around the world.

Many of the showcased solutions at InnoEX integrated AI technology to enhance their intelligence, personalisation, and optimisation efficiency. For instance, Neuron Digital presented smart building solutions that utilise AI and digital twin technology to enhance building management efficiency. Similarly, Neuvix showcased smart transportation solutions powered by edge computing, computer vision, and AI, revolutionising the way we perceive transportation systems.

In addition to AI integration, other notable innovations were showcased at the event. ATS Technology Services Co., Ltd. introduced a patented thunder gas sterilisation and purification system, utilising high-voltage electric fields to eliminate bacteria and viruses—an essential innovation in today’s health-conscious environment. Meanwhile, GPTBots.ai unveiled Asia’s first fully built-in commercial AI robot development platform, empowering enterprises to customise and train their AI chat robots.

Looking ahead, HKSTP remains committed to fostering a culture of innovation and supporting the growth of tech enterprises in Hong Kong. Several platforms will showcase the country’s digital and innovation prowess. These include the Hong Kong International Innovation and Technology Exhibition 2024, Hong Kong Spring Electronics Fair, Hong Kong Science and Technology Parks Corporation Start-up Roadshow and the Elevator Fundraising Competition 2024 ( EPiC 2024 ) Finals.

Initiatives like the “Elevator Fundraising Competition” (EPiC 2024) provide startups with opportunities to secure investment and forge strategic partnerships, further propelling the city’s innovation ecosystem forward.

As HKSTP continues to pave the way for technological advancement, Hong Kong is poised to emerge as a global leader in innovation and technology, driving sustainable growth and prosperity in the region.
