In a concerted effort to propel Vietnamese businesses into a more sustainable and digitally adept future, the Enterprise Development Department (EDD) under the Ministry of Planning and Investment (MPI) has embarked on a comprehensive programme for digital transformation spanning the period from 2021 to 2025.

Working in collaboration with various ministries, sectors, and localities, this initiative aims to bolster awareness and adoption of digital transformation practices across the nation’s diverse business landscape.

Deputy Director Nguyen Duc Trung of the EDD underscores the programme’s success in enhancing businesses’ understanding of the critical nature of digital transformation. Through targeted activities, enterprises have begun to grasp the importance of digitising data, streamlining processes, and embracing digital technologies to expedite their transition towards comprehensive digitalisation.

The recently released annual Report on Digital Transformation 2023, a collaborative effort between the MPI and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIS), sheds light on the notable progress in evaluating businesses’ readiness for digital transformation. Scores have seen a significant uptick of 0.7 to 1.4 points compared to the previous year, indicating a growing recognition among firms regarding the importance of digitalisation. Many companies are now integrating digital transformation objectives into their development strategies and mobilising resources to drive transformative projects forward.

Le Thi Quyen, Head of the EDD’s Electronic Information Office, emphasises the emerging trend of concurrent green and digital transitions, which focus on enhancing sustainable productivity, fortifying resilience against climate change, and mitigating greenhouse gas emissions. In Vietnam, the synergy between digital technology and transformation is poised to catalyse the nation’s green economic transition, aligning with strategic goals for sustainable growth.

Despite increasing awareness and knowledge surrounding digital transformation, Vietnamese businesses often encounter challenges in independently navigating this comprehensive process. Hence, there is a pressing need for policies, support programmes, and tailored consultation services to guide businesses along their digital transformation journey.

By providing assistance in formulating digital transformation roadmaps and implementing suitable solutions, stakeholders can empower businesses to achieve breakthroughs and thrive in the evolving digital landscape.

The convergence of green and digital transformation represents a pivotal opportunity for Vietnamese businesses to drive sustainable growth and competitiveness. Through concerted efforts from governmental bodies, industry stakeholders, and businesses themselves, Vietnam can leverage digital technologies to accelerate its transition towards a more sustainable and resilient economy, unlocking new avenues for innovation and prosperity.

Vietnam is increasingly turning to digital transformation and alternative energy sources to foster sustainability and resilience in its economy, aiming to reduce environmental impact while promoting economic growth. By integrating digital technologies and embracing renewable energy solutions, Vietnam seeks to mitigate environmental risks, enhance energy security, and propel its transition towards a more sustainable future.

Vietnam is embarking on an ambitious journey towards sustainability and energy security through digital transformation and the adoption of alternative energy sources. Spearheaded by the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT), a comprehensive digital transformation plan for the energy sector aims to modernise administrative processes and enhance operational efficiency.

By transitioning the majority of administrative procedures to online platforms and digitising all energy-related documents, Vietnam is taking significant strides towards streamlining operations and improving data accessibility within the energy landscape.

Vietnam is advancing sustainable development through smart production practices, renewable energy adoption, and circular economy principles, with the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MoIT) leading policy refinement and digital innovation. By incentivising energy producers and fostering collaboration, Vietnam aims to lead in environmental resilience and energy security, driven by digital transformation and alternative energy integration.

With the right strategies and support mechanisms in place, Vietnam can harness the power of digitalisation to overcome challenges, seize opportunities and lead the charge towards a brighter, greener future.
